Tina Nelson is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) and carries the MAADC II certification. She grew up in our local community and has a strong passion for helping others. She believes in building a strong therapeutic rapport with her clients in order to help them gain the skills and insight they need to meet the challenges of life.
Tina received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with minors in English and Criminal Justice from Missouri Southern State University. She continued her education at Lindenwood University, receiving a Master of Arts in Counseling, for Professional and School counselor.
Tina has gained most of her experience through working with adolescents and adults with addiction issues and has been shifting her focus to include mental health disorders. Her preferred practice is Cognitive Behavior Therapy to restructure thoughts and behaviors, build healthy coping skills, and learn how to have healthy relationships with self and others. She has also gained knowledge and experience in utilizing Dialectical Behavior Therapy to further assist clients.
Tina is the mother of three children and has one granddaughter. Her most favorite activity is to go on cruises with family and her best friends. She also enjoys reading and spends most of her spare time with her granddaughter.
