Jason Cravens, PhD, LMFT

Dr. Jason is an LMFT with a master’s degree from Friends University and a doctorate from Texas Woman’s University in marriage and family therapy. He has taught courses in family therapy at Texas Woman’s University and currently teaches counseling at Pittsburg State University. Before relocating to the Joplin area, he spent two years working with incarcerated youth and their families in the Texas juvenile justice system, while also working with distressed couples in private practice. Dr. Jason has experience working with individuals, couples, and families across a wide variety of settings including hospitals, community mental health, and substance use clinics. Clinically, Dr. Jason utilizes a trauma-informed perspective emphasizing communication, emotional regulation, and interpersonal authenticity to help clients improve their mental health, family relationships, and find preferred ways of being. He has a special passion for helping couples and families navigate difficult relationships, martial distress, substance use, and intergenerational trauma. In his free time, Dr. Jason enjoys spending time with his daughters, reading, writing, and collecting music.
